Family owned and operated Tire Discounters, the nation’s ninth largest independent provider of tires, wheels and automotive services, today announced it will be moving its headquarters to downtown Cincinnati to accommodate the company’s accelerated growth strategy. The move is expected to take place this summer.
“We believe moving our headquarters to downtown Cincinnati makes great sense for our company’s growth plan, but it’s also important for me because this means Tire Discounters Headquarters will remain in the same region it first started 39 years ago,” said Cincinnati native, Chip Wood, Founder and Chairman of Tire Discounters. “We looked at several locations in multiple cities, but in the end this location was the best for us and our employees.” added Wood.
Tire Discounters new headquarters will be located in the core of downtown Cincinnati at One East 4th Street, corner of 4th and Vine. At least 40 employees will occupy a floor of the building.
The company now employs more than 1,000 people in almost 100 stores and six major cities across Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee.
“This is a very important and exciting move for Tire Discounters as we quickly expand our business,” said Paul Brunner, President and CEO. “We’re opening new stores, expanding the markets we’re in, adding a distribution center and now moving our corporate headquarters to downtown Cincinnati so we have more space. It’s certainly an exciting time to be part of the momentum happening here,” added Brunner.
According to Brunner, the announcement coincides with the opening of a second distribution center in Murfreesboro, TN, in the Greater Nashville area. The 67,200-square-foot warehouse facility will create new job opportunities in the area and enable Tire Discounters to better support the company’s expanding footprint in Tennessee. The new distribution center is scheduled to open this summer. Tire Discounters’ primary distribution center will remain located in Sharonville, OH.
Tire Discounters is on an accelerated path to open new stores. The company’s newest store in Murfreesboro, TN opened May 6th. This is the 6th store in the Greater Nashville area, and the company expects to have up to 200 jobs in Nashville created by 2016.
Tire Discounters’ primary warehouse, various operations, growing training facilities, and many workers will remain in Sharonville. According to Brunner, the company has outgrown the Sharonville campus and moving the corporate headquarters downtown will allow for further expansion. “We look forward to remaining an important part of the Sharonville community,” he said.
